Every baby born in Ontario must be registered. Registration provides official documentation of the birth to the government and allows you to apply for documents (including a birth certificate) for your baby. It's a two-part process - both you and your care provider have to complete and submit forms. There is no cost to registering your baby.
Service Ontario now offers a "four-in-one newborn bundle": in one transaction you can register your baby, get a birth certificate, apply for a social insurance number and sign up for child tax benefits.
