Your newborn's poo may look different than you expected and its appearance will change over time. Your baby's first bowel movement is called meconium, and can be thick, sticky, and very dark in colour, which is normal. After the first two to three days, your baby's poo will transition to a bright or mustard yellow shade, with a grainy appearance. It is important to keep track of how many wet and soiled diapers your baby produces to ensure that they are not dehydrated and are getting enough to eat.
